KIMCL

This research unit focuses on biochemical, inflammatory and immunological changes that are promoted by obesity, an unfavorable diet and a lack of exercise. New and known biomarkers for improved early diagnosis and prevention of diseases such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, cardiovascular disease, dementia and osteosarcopenia are being researched in experimental and clinical studies. In addition to individual biomarkers, it is being investigated whether their combination in multimarker indices can improve the diagnostic significance. The metabolism of bile acids in fatty liver disease is currently being intensively investigated.
